26w 6d

How far along: 26 weeks, 27 tomorrow.

Size of the baby: Almost 2.5 lbs and 16inches in the 27th week.

Total weight gain: Doctor's appointment isn't until next Tuesday, but I would guess about 12-13 lbs gained by now.

Maternity clothes: Same as last time.  Only I hate all my maternity clothes now and I also dread buying fall/winter clothes for the last trimester.

Stretch marks: None yet

Sleep: Still a nightly bathroom break.  Also sometimes having to get up and get some juice or milk to regulate my blood sugar.

Best moment of this week: It's been a rough week. See post below.

Miss anything: I miss being able to go out and drink away stress for a night.  Reality is pretty harsh.

Movement: She moves a lot throughout the day including a lot at night.  Much more than in the past.  I'm not sure where she's laying currently and it kind of confuses me on whether I'm getting punched or kicked.

Food cravings: I'm thinking about Chinese food this weekend.  Or Rock Fair. Crab Rangoons and Catfish.  Weird.

Anything making you queasy or sick: nope!

Have you started to show yet: We are in month 7.  It's obvious

Gender: Girl

Labor signs: nope.

Belly button in or out: Its still all the way in.  I'm hoping it stays that way.

Wedding rings on or off: On.

Happy or moody most of the time: This was an emotional week, but happy.  Feeling like there is a lot to plan and get done over the next 12 weeks.

Looking forward to: 3 day weekend.  Labor Day!

Names: Still undecided.  I really can't get Regan out of my head lately.  I might try to revisit it with him.

The good and the bad

Tuesday, August 27th, was a rough day.  About 11 a.m. my brother called to tell me he was at the ER with my dad. My dad was starting to have a heart attack.  I don't want to go into much because it's a very traumatic thing pared with pregnancy and it's also very hard for me to talk about because my dad is this super human that I keep up on a pedestal so having him in the hospital is hard.  Very hard.  We also have pretty rough anxiety on a day to day with my dad being off the charts, so having him in the hospital to visit is a huge deal that's only happened once, and now he's on day 3 in there.

SO, instead of dwelling on the bad, I want to make sure I document the good because we are so very blessed as a family.

  • My brother, Chris, was at work with my dad.
  • It was early in the day and they both weren't exhausted from a full day of physical labor.
  • Chris happened to walk outside shortly after my dad went to the work van having issues.
  • Chris was there to give my dad aspirin when he asked for it
  • Chris was there to revive my dad after he lost consciousness.
  • When my dad refused to deal with an ambulance, Chris was able to drive him to the hospital and also kept him calm.
  • They happened to be at a job only about 10 minutes from the hospital.
  • When they got to the hospital, my Aunt Tammy (paramedic) was the first person my dad and Chris saw, making them much more comfortable.
  • Aunt Tammy stayed with dad until he was more stable.
  • My dad was able to get Nitro before the heart attack went into full force.
  • My uncle John arrived and had a major heart attack about 1.5 years ago, so he has lots of knowledge about what's going on and was able to answer some questions.
  • My mom was able to arrive safely.
  • The doctor that was working on Tuesday in Rolla is the same doctor that works at the St. Louis hospitals.  It happened to be his day for a rotation in Rolla.
  • Because the fancy STL doctor was in Rolla, my dad didn't have to be airlifted to St. Louis.
  • Because we got him to the hospital in time, he only needed a stint.
  • Because the fancy STL doctor was in Rolla, he preformed the surgery at the same time as the test. Anyone else would have told us there was a problem and then we would have had to take him to STL to get it fixed.
  • I was able to leave work and be there within a few hours and be with him for a while before the surgery and I didn't have to leave the ICU at any point.
  • He is recovering well and should get to go home soon.

I wanted to document these things because you know God is with you when something bad happens, but the best case scenario of each situation happens.  So many things could have gone wrong. We could have so easily lost my dad on Tuesday if half of the things above didn't happen.  Instead, we get more time, which is such a blessing, especially with the granddaughter coming soon.

Questions for 25 weeks

How far along: 25 weeks!

Size of the baby: Almost 2 lbs and 13.5 inches!  She's getting big!

Total weight gain: gained 7 lbs total

Maternity clothes: I wear a lot of maternity dresses with cardigans.  I also have two pairs of black maternity work pants that I wear.  I can still wear my V-neck tshirts with maternity pants, but I've also bought a few maternity t-shirts in black, navy, and red.

Stretch marks: None yet

Sleep: Still getting up every night to go pee and/or from hips hurting or leg cramps. I've had to get up every night to pee for as long as I can remember now.  I NEVER ever got up to pee in the middle of the night before being pregnant.

Best moment of this week: Probably this weekend when my mom got to feel the baby kick.  She was very excited.

Miss anything: I continuously miss beer.  It's been hard to go through summer without any patios.  I miss wine a lot too. I miss my bff Wendy and I going out during the week.  I miss planning a trip to Fast Eddie's with the other bff Amanda.  I also really dislike going to baseball games while not having a beer.

Movement: A lot of movement.  Sometimes when she's laying at the top of my stomach I can see her move now.  She kicks a lot.  Rather, I think she moves her arms a lot.  I can feel those most often and she's been head down for a while.  The stomach kicks tend to happen more when I'm laying down.

Food cravings: I still drink chocolate milk every morning.  Actually, Jacob and I bought Carnation Instant Breakfast so we could get some vitamins into the mornings. I really wanted Casey's Pizza this weekend so we picked one up on Sunday when we went home.

Anything making you queasy or sick: nope!

Have you started to show yet: I really can't hide it anymore. 6.5 months.

Gender: Girl

Labor signs: Nothing really so far.  It's been such an easy pregnancy when I compare it to others.

Belly button in or out: Its still all the way in.  I'm hoping it stays that way.

Wedding rings on or off: On.  Though it's because we bought a size 7 so I could hopefully wear it throughout the pregnancy.  I normally wear a six.

Happy or moody most of the time: So happy. I know this sounds so cheesy but I honestly find myself laughing and smiling more than ever lately. I'm probably the most happy I've ever been in my life. I don't think it's directly baby related - though that is a great blessing - it's that Jacob and I are so happy together.  Euphorically happy and grateful to be together.

Looking forward to: Ross is coming to visit from NY in a few weeks!  Labor day weekend is also close.  This weekend we're going to stay home and hang around the pool for one of the last warm weekends of summer.

Names: Still undecided.  Jacob tried out Emily a few times last week.  Still unsure.

Baby Names

We still haven't narrowed down the baby name list very much.  Here are some that are still in contention, though just barely.

We cannot seem to come to an agreement on any of these names.  Jacob seems to favor Claire and Zoe, and I favor Emerson and Brinley.  Hopefully we'll settle on a name soon.

The Facebook Reveal

It was very hard to keep our secret off Facebook until we were married.  Wanting to tell the world, distant relatives, and high school friends the news at week 12 but keeping quiet until week 23 was very hard!  We are starting our sixth month of pregnancy now.

We decided to blast the whole thing at once - BOOM. Married, preggo.

I'm not sure everyone really paid attention though, because no one has asked me what I'm having.  Maybe they were able to take the clue from the chalkboard since we wrote it in yellow and pink.

Also, just for record keeping purposes, Jacob could feel the baby last night, 8/7/13.  I'm pretty sure the Miss was punching, not kicking, but still, movement felt. Success.

Tuesday, August 6, 2013

I went to a doctor's appointment yesterday.  The baby is doing well.  The doctor is estimating my due date at 12-6-13.

The no-named Miss is in the 49th percentile for measurements, right in the middle.

Besides eating a lot of TUMS every day, everything is going quite well.  Sleep is not very easy and there is a lot of waking up and changing positions, but all in all, a very smooth pregnancy so far.

Also, Jacob and I got married on Sunday.  We are so very happy right now and content with our lives.  We're very excited for the future and our family.
