Sleep Deprivation, etc

I have a lot to do. A lot to get done and it's just not all happening. If it's quiet enough to type a blog, I should be sleeping. I need to take more pictures and clean more. I need to send some thank you's and take some pictures of Ben using his blankets but if there is extra time, we play with Em or clean bottles or get to the store. We are doing okay with two littles, we just don't have time for anything else yet.

Emerson is 1!

Emerson had her first birthday on Saturday, 11/22. We had her Grandparents over, her Uncle Chris and my best friend + their significant others. We did family thanksgiving lunch on that day too. It was very busy and a lot of work for being 37 weeks pregnant, but we survived, dinner was good, and everything went well.

Emerson was great and genuinely loved all of her presents, which was so fun! She was so excited and loved on everyone. She's such a sweet, social baby. Everyone went above and beyond spoiling her. We are so blessed with great people in our lives who love our daughter.

Emerson is such a joy and her personality is just amazing. She's funny and onery and happy and easy. She walks up to about 15 steps at a time now and can repeat a lot of words. She has a special book she likes "mom mom mom" to read and when I start to read it she gets excited and after the first page, almost always gives me an unprompted kiss.

She says done and bath and baby. She says Mom Mom Mom and Dad dad. She says more, and a lot of other words if you say them to her first. She hugs and loves on us and has the best time with her Daddy. Those two have lots of fun together. Jacob is an amazing dad and husband as always.

As for "the boy", the csection date is scheduled for 12/4. If my blood pressure gets high, I can go into labor and delivery and we will get the ball rolling at any time now since I'm 38 weeks tomorrow. Also, if I go into labor, we will get the ball rolling. So soon!!!

34w, 5d and Emerson is 11 months, 2 weeks.

How far along: 34 weeks

Size of the baby: My apps all say 19-22in., 4.9 lbs. but I had an ultrasound yesterday and this boy is already 6lbs.

Total weight gain: I think I'll end up around 15-20lbs gained.  More than Emerson.  I hope it's not hard to fit into jeans again.

Maternity clothes: Same stuff.  No point in getting more.  Just going to deal.

Stretch marks: None

Sleep: I can fall asleep, and I can sleep for a good 4 hours, but when I wake up I am SO sore.  Sleeping on one side or the other really hurts your shoulders.

Best moment of this week: Emerson's first Halloween

Miss anything: I'm about ready to wrap this up.  I feel like this baby is bigger or it's harder on my body, it's getting difficult to take care of Em.

Movement: He's running out of room so his kicks are down and his movements are starting to hurt

Food cravings: Eh

Anything making you queasy or sick: All is well.

Gender: It's a boy!

Labor signs: My high BP has started.  Apparently my body starts reacting when the baby hits about 6lbs.  It started with Em in week 36.  I delivered in week 38 via scheduled C-section.  We're earlier this time, but I think the babies are around the same size.  I did have to get my BP monitored in L&D for a few hours on Friday but symptoms of pre-e are non existent and it went down eventually.

Belly button in or out: Barely in still

Wedding rings on or off: On.

Happy or moody most of the time: Still happy.  I'm so very blessed to have such a great husband and daughter.

Looking forward to: Emerson is turning one in a few weeks

Names: Still nothing in stone.  Revisiting Campbell, and really seriously revisiting Benjamin, which I threw out ages ago and can't stop thinking of.

Emerson was such a great sport for her first Halloween.  She wore her costume without trying to take it off and was quite popular (via Facebook) in the adorable outfit.  It was very cold out so after dinner and her bath, we dressed her, put her in the red/yellow car with a blanket, and pushed her around the neighborhood.  Because I'd been in L&D earlier in the day, we stayed out about 15 minutes and saw about 8 houses.  Emerson was charming and smiled/waved at people.  She's such a nice baby.

Week 33/ Emerson is 11 months old!

How far along: 33 weeks

Size of the baby: 19in, 4.5 lbs

Total weight gain: Didn't gain any weight since the last appointment, so holding steady at 15lbs gained.

Maternity clothes: I hate all my clothes now but I don't know when the baby is going to come so I don't know if I should order any more.

Stretch marks: None

Sleep: Getting more uncomfortable, but not horrible yet.

Best moment of this week: Emerson took her first few steps!

Miss anything: It's getting pretty hard to do much of anything, bending over hurts!

Movement: A little less than last week but he's still busy.

Food cravings: Apples

Anything making you queasy or sick: All is well.

Gender: It's a boy!

Labor signs: A few back contractions last Saturday night but it's calmed down since.

Belly button in or out: Its still all the way in.  I'm hoping it stays that way.

Wedding rings on or off: On.

Happy or moody most of the time: Starting to get more crabby and irritated with things that are petty.  Working on recognizing those and not taking it out on Jake.

Looking forward to: Being done.  Getting back home after the hospital.

Names: Not decided, STILL!

Emerson starting taking steps forward this week.  She can take up to about 4 at a time.  She did this on her 11 month birthday, 10/22/14.  She also discovered the stairs this week and you should see her go!  She can get up them so fast and no one even showed her how to climb them.

Emerson video on the stairs

She says new words some times and it's always cute.  She says peak-a-boo pretty well and said please yesterday once. She's started to cry when we tell her no and take something away enforce the "no".  She also had her two front teeth FINALLY come through this week.  I'm excited for them to come in a bit more and to see her smile.

She eats really well and we're about to make the big switch from bottles to sippy cups and formula to regular milk. We checked with her Pediatrician and  got the okay to do this at 11 months instead of 12 months since her new brother will need those bottles soon.  Planning on starting this weekend. Lots of changes for this poor baby!

32 weeks / Almost 11 months

How far along: 32 weeks

Size of the baby: 19 in, 4lb - Head of Lettuce

Total weight gain: At my last appointment almost 2 weeks ago, I was at 15lbs. gained

Maternity clothes: Same as last year.

Stretch marks: None yet

Sleep: Sleeping pretty well.  I wake up once to use the bathroom at night but better than last year at this time.

Best moment of this week: My sweet husband grabbed Em out of bed after dinner this week (she was asleep at her normal 7:30p bedtime) and brought her downstairs for me to hug on.  I was sad I hadn't been able to spend more time with her.  She quickly fell back asleep on me, something she hasn't done since she was probably 5 months old.  So sweet.

Miss anything: Jacob has been giving Emerson her baths because it's a little rough for me now.  I miss that time with her.

Movement: Lots of movement.  This baby is very busy and can kick very hard.

Food cravings: Coffee every AM.

Anything making you queasy or sick: All is well.

Have you started to show yet: Ah ha ha ha.

Gender: It's a boy!

Labor signs: No.  Sometimes I feel a little cramping but it goes away quickly and hasn't been consistent.

Belly button in or out: Its still all the way in, but barely.  Jacob was touching my stomach and the baby kicked or reached back at him and darn near made the belly button stay out.  Traumatic experience.

Wedding rings on or off: On.

Happy or moody most of the time: The Johnston House is a happy place.

Looking forward to: Wrapping this up, getting in and out of the hospital safely (without any Ebola).  Dreading leaving Emerson at home for any amount of time.

Names: We're leaning towards Silas as of this week.  We both like it a lot.  We'll see if it sticks.

Notes on Emerson:

This sweet baby is so fun to be around.  She said "baby" and "daddy" very clearly.  She only has 6 more days until she's 11 months old, so she better take those first steps! I'm going to explain to her that 10 months walking sounds better than 11 months walking.  She's very smart and can show you where her hair is and where your nose is.  I like that she's aggressive- when Jacob crawls around chasing her, he doesn't get to do all the chasing.  Sometimes, she'll turn back around and charge towards him!  She loves her Dad so much and gives us both kisses a lot now.  She loves to dance and still loves the Mickey Mouse Club House that we watch every morning with her bottle.  Looking to get rid of that bottle around the end of the month so we can have the habit kicked before baby brother starts  using them. She's very busy and doesn't stay still for long, unless she's reading books, which is a favorite activity of hers. I feel quite a bit of guilt that she has a really happy life right now and she's doing so well and we're about to really make it different.  I'm guessing that every parent feels this way no matter when you add a sibling, but this baby will have no memory of being without her brother since they're "Irish Twins".  I'm sure God has this already worked out though and there's a reason for us having two babies so close together.

Emerson is 10 months, 2 weeks and Baby Boy is almost 30 weeks

How far along: 29 weeks, 5 days

Size of the baby: 17in., 2.9 lbs (Small Cabbage)

Total weight gain: I don't go to the doctor until next week... we will see

Maternity clothes: Same as last year.

Stretch marks: None yet

Sleep: Sleeping okay.  Nightly bathroom breaks.  Sore hips, par for the course.

Best moment of this week: We moved into our new house, which is lovely.  A yard for our babies!

Miss anything: The ability to bend over quickly, which is necessary currently.

Movement: Lots of movement

Food cravings: Still having coffee in the mornings, I wanted bugle chips and dip.  I bought caramel apples at the store.

Anything making you queasy or sick: All is well.

Have you started to show yet: I think I look about 9 months right now

Gender: It's a boy!

Labor signs: Nope

Belly button in or out: Its still all the way in.  I'm hoping it stays that way.

Wedding rings on or off: On.

Happy or moody most of the time: Very very happy. Couldn't ask for a better baby or husband.

Looking forward to: Unpacking, organizing, nesting. Getting ready for the next chapter.

Names: Still thinking about a Jacob Charles (like his dad).  Also my parents are trying to sell Jacob Levi to us.  We kind of like Cy.  I still like Andy.

Notes on Emerson:

Miss Emerson is such a joy to be around.  What a happy baby girl we have.  She is sooooo funny and learns new things every single day.  This weekend she said drink, all done, hair, book, and I'm sure other things that I can't remember.  She hollers for her "Dad dad dad", which is so funny.  Sometimes now, she just feels like kissing us instead of us asking, which is so sweet.  She still hasn't started walking but she's so strong and can stand up without help for long periods of time.
Emerson seems to be doing okay moving to the new house.  She really likes the room we have in the living room now.  There is so much more room to play!  I'm sure she'll enjoy the back yard over the next year too.

I post videos of Emerson on a YouTube channel so I can delete them off my phone and thought I'd leave the link here for family's viewing pleasure.
