20 Weeks

How far along: 20 weeks!

Size of the baby: 6.5 in, 10oz - a small cantaloupe
Total weight gain: I go back and forth about 7 lbs throughout the week.  Some days I weigh the same as always, some days I've gained 5lbs.

Maternity clothes: Just scraping around to find my clothes from last year.  I ordered a pair of gray skinny jeans from H&M that should arrive today and a dress for work.  Everything else is leftover so far.

Stretch marks: None yet

Sleep: I get up to go to the bathroom once a night but my hips/legs don't hurt like with Em.

Best moment of this week: Emerson is 8 months old today.  She is such a joy to us.

Miss anything: I thought summer 2014 would be my year to reclaim fun times, to remind myself that although I'm a mother, I can still go to ball games and Hermann.  Turns out, 2015 will have to be my year.

Movement: Some kicking going on.  Felt 2 hard kicks this week but that's it.  Otherwise slight movement that I can't feel from the outside yet.

Food cravings: Nothing like the chocolate milk issues of Emerson.  I do love iced coffee this summer and really it helps with the headaches I wake up with.

Anything making you queasy or sick: No.  No stomach issues anymore but the headaches are a bit crazy sometimes.

Have you started to show yet: Yep. Especially when I wear anything maternity.  We're at 5.5 months.  It's too late to hide it anymore.

Gender: It's a boy!

Labor signs: Nothing.  Wayyyyy to early for that.  Smooth sailing so far.

Belly button in or out: Its still all the way in.  I'm hoping it stays that way.

Wedding rings on or off: On.  It's actually too big since I haven't started swelling yet.

Happy or moody most of the time: -- This is my answer from last year at this time: So happy. I know this sounds so cheesy but I honestly find myself laughing and smiling more than ever lately. I'm probably the most happy I've ever been in my life. I don't think it's directly baby related - though that is a great blessing - it's that Jacob and I are so happy together.  Euphorically happy and grateful to be together. And I have to say, it all still rings true.  I have such a great husband.  He is so good to me and I so enjoy all my time with him.  On top of all that happiness, we have Emerson who is a huge joy every day.

Looking forward to: Fryfest 2014! I was hoping to be able to be more festive at this year's event but I guess Fryfest 2015 will have to be the time Jacob is my DD.

Names: Not even close to deciding.  Jacob does like Campbell though.

Emerson is 8 months old

Or she will be, tomorrow.

Emerson is such a sweet sweet baby.  She eats 3 meals a day, can feed herself finger foods, and is getting so big.  She is a funny gal and is doing something new almost every day.  This weekend she clapped  for the first time without anyone's help or direction.  She is constantly motorboating.  She pulls herself up when she has something sturdy to pull up on.  She has army crawled for quite some time but she's starting to get up on her knees more.

She loves her daddy.  He is the funniest guy she knows.  She likes to be thrown up in the air and isn't afraid of anything. She is very alert and when you read to her or say a new word, you can tell she's really trying to absorb it.  She loves baths and she loves to swim.

Emerson has been a very easy baby these first 8 months.  She sleeps like a champ, she is so pleasant when she wakes up, and she has the best grin and smile.  We love her so much.

Updates - July 2014

In hopes of documentation preventing memory loss, I just wanted to jot down a few things that I hadn't mentioned (probably because I've only posted pics since Em was born).

Emerson said "Da-da" at 5 months.
Emerson said "Ma-ma" at 6 months old
Emerson now whispers "Cat" sometimes at 7 months and is very verbal all the time.

Right now she sits up without assistance and if you give her your hands, she always pulls up to a standing position.  She has army crawled since six months and everything goes in her mouth right now.  She just got her second tooth.  She got her first a few weeks ago (@7 months).  She can feed herself puffs and eats baby food 3 times a day.  She has been able to hold her own bottle to feed herself since 6 months.  She can drink out of a sippy cup and loves water.

Emerson still loves bath time and she has slept all night since about week 10.  She isn't the slightest bit fussy unless she's hungry or tired.  She doesn't even cry to let us know when she has a dirty diaper. She is a very easy baby.

Jacob calls Emerson by her full name and sometimes "Merson" and "my Merson person".

I'm currently 18 weeks pregnant.  We found out on 6/16/14 that we're having a boy and we're very excited to have one of each.  We plan on being VERY done after this one.
